World Values Day 17 Oct 2024

Values are not something to be added to our lives when we feel like it, like an optional icing on a cake. They are the core ingredients for quality of life and sense of fulfilment.

We like to give it the talk but for values to be meaningful they have to be in the walk – embedded so deeply that they inform every thought, word and action.

There are few role models for this: people who use their values as a fluent language for non-violent communication and decision-making.

Yet, this is needed first and foremost when we speak about Quality Education, SDG4.

LifeRoute’s Caring On Campus gets stuck into the nitty-gritty of how this can be done for all involved either directly or indirectly with university life. Where it becomes seen within Higher Education how values are constantly modelled, exercised, and where academia – both staff and students – are lighthouses for how to discover and live confidently by our values.

Because our higher values are both an internal GPS and navigation tool, that tells us exactly where we are, and what is always the right thing to do.

From this vital pinch-point within HE, it can ripple out to ultimately be of the highest benefit for all people, communities and governments.

How else are we going to fulfil the Sustainable Development Goals to secure our collective future?
